Due to the relatively high cost of energy efficient windows, they are most commonly installed when a refurbishment is being planned or when building a new house.  Below are some of the points you should consider:

• Are your existing windows single-glazed? If so, upgrading to double/triple-glazing will make a big difference.
• Do you live in a noisy area? If so, installing double/triple-glazing will come with the significant added benefit of reducing intrusive noise pollution in your house.
• Are you in a conservation area? If so, it is very likely that any new windows you install will have to be “similar” in appearance to your existing windows. In this case they need to be specially designed
• Are you planning to use a ventilation system? If so, you will need modern windows, which are much more airtight than traditional window units.
