Before installing an MVHR (or a simple ventilation system), you should check the following:

• Do you or other occupants of your building suffer from allergies? If so, an MVHR is an excellent way of reducing the presence of allergens in the environment.
• is your house sufficiently airtight, or capable of becoming sufficiently airtight? If not, the system won’t circulate the air efficiently; 
• are you comfortable with the idea of keeping your windows closed in the winter? Some people think this is a strange idea, but the ventilation system is so efficient that not only is the air much fresher, but your house will stay much warmer too. You can still open windows but you will lose all that precious heat.
• Do you have enough space for the unit? It is about the size of a tall fridge.
