wind power uses turbines to generate clean electricity

Wind turbines spin when it’s windy, turning a generator that makes electricity. The windier it is, the more electricity you produce.

The electricity can be used for anything – boiling the kettle, watching your favourite TV programme or lighting your home or business.

what’s so great about wind power?

  • Generates free electricity to power your appliances
  • 40% of the wind in Europe comes over the UK
  • Unlike solar, the wind can blow day and night, meaning a well-placed turbine can produce electricity 24/7
  • Makes you money - the ‘Clean Energy Cashback’ scheme will pay you for every unit of wind electricity you create over the next 20 years (click here for more info)
  • Protects you against rising energy bills
  • Gives you greater energy independence

greentomatoenergy works with trusted, accredited installers, and can advise you of whether wind is the most appropriate technology for your needs.

Climate change is caused by increased solar activity, not humans.

Truth: The sun provides almost all the energy in the earth’s climate, so it clearly has a strong influence on the climate. Prior to 1960’s changes in solar activity and global climate were shown to be strongly proportional.

However, in the past 35 years, studies have shown solar activity to be diminishing, whilst the climate has shown a steady warming trend. This indicates that any recent change in global warming must be attributable to a different source. In fact, it is likely that a decline in solar activity is having a slowing (negative) effect on global temperature rise. Conversely, the warming trend over the past 35 years is directly proportional to recent rises in carbon dioxide emissions.
